THE FRESH FOUNDATION – DJ SCHOOL FAQ

Do I need any experience to join?

No. We have a true beginner level designed for people who have never DJed before. We teach everything from turning on the gear to mixing full songs.

What equipment do I need?

You’ll need:

• A laptop (Mac or PC)

• DJ software (Serato DJ)

• A DJ controller (we provide recommendations)

• Headphones

*Speakers are optional — headphones or laptop speakers are enough.

Do you provide equipment in class?

Yes. We provide DJ gear in the classroom so you can learn hands-on, although we do recommend that you own some gear to practice on and refine what you learned in class.

How long is each program?

Each level is 8 weeks:

• Beginner

• Intermediate

• Advanced

  Plus optional specialty courses in Scratching and Ableton for DJs.

How many days per week do I attend?

Students attend at least two classes per week.

We offer flexible scheduling so you can attend on:

• Mon/Wed

• Tue/Thu

• or mixed days if needed

• Fridays are optional for recap

You’re not locked into one fixed schedule.

How long is each class?

Each session is 30 minutes of instruction with reset time between classes to ensure quality and focus.

How many students are in each class?

Only 3 students max per class.

This means:

• More personal attention

• More time on the decks

• Faster improvement

No crowded classrooms.

What will I be able to do after the Beginner level?

By the end of Beginner you will be able to:

• Beatmatch

• Use multiple types of transitions

• Understand bars & phrasing

• Organize your music

• Perform a full DJ mix

Can I perform or record a mix?

Yes. Students record live DJ sets and can participate in:

• In-house performances

• Online showcases

• Video & social content

We train DJs for the real world.

What software do you teach?

We focus on Serato DJ and Ableton Live — the industry standards for performance and production.

What is the difference between DJing and Ableton?

DJing = performing and mixing music live

Ableton = creating, editing, and remixing music

We teach both so students can become complete artists.

Do you teach scratching?

Yes. Scratching is its own specialty class where students learn:

• Turntable control

• Scratch patterns

• Battle & performance techniques

Can I take more than one class type?

Yes. You can take:

• DJ level + Scratching

• DJ level + Ableton

• Or all three

Your schedule is customized.

How much does it cost?

Per 8-week cycle:

• Beginner DJ – $300

• Intermediate DJ – $400

• Advanced DJ – $500

• Scratching – $300

• Ableton for DJs – $300

You only pay for what you take.

Do you offer private lessons?

Yes.

Private lessons are $150 per hour and count as bonus credits toward level advancement.

Do I get a certificate?

Yes. Students receive completion certificates for each level and specialty course.

What age groups can attend?

We accept:

• Teens 

• Adults

• Seniors

As long as you can use a laptop and headphones, you’re welcome.

Is this just a hobby class?

Yes & No. This is a chance for anyone to learn how to DJ, but also a professional DJ training program designed for:

• Club DJs

• Event DJs

• Content creators

• Producers

• Performers

• Hobbyist

We teach fun with mixing music alongside learning real-world DJ skills.

Can I start even if I’m nervous?

Absolutely. Most students start with zero confidence.

By Week 8, they’re performing.

Where is the school located?

The Fresh Foundation is based in Las Vegas, located in a private facility. Location will be provided after the purchase of a class.  Digital expansion coming soon.
