Semester One: Beginner Level Duration: 8 Weeks (24 Sessions/ 30 min each session) Focus: Fundamentals of DJing Overview: This first semester lays the foundation for aspiring DJs by teaching essential skills and concepts needed to begin mixing music confidently. Students will explore DJ history and culture, get hands-on with modern DJ equipment, and learn how to build and perform basic sets. Key Areas Covered: • Introduction to DJ culture and terminology • Equipment breakdown (turntables, controllers, mixers, software) • Cueing, beatmatching, and basic transitions • Understanding BPM, tempo, and song structure • Creating beginner-level practice routines • Intro to creating and organizing digital libraries • Weekly hands-on practice and performance development Goal: By the end of Semester One, students will be able to confidently perform short DJ sets, mix beats using basic techniques, and understand the core structure of a live DJ performance. Outcome: Graduates of this level earn credits toward Intermediate admission and may begin developing their own style through guided practice and feedback.
